Financial Planning FAQs
Financial planning refers to the process of setting and achieving financial goals by assessing your current financial situation, developing strategies, and implementing appropriate actions. It involves analysing various aspects of finances; including but not limited to, income, expenses, investments, taxes, insurance, and retirement planning. The goal of financial planning is to create a comprehensive plan to help you manage your finances effectively, make informed decisions, and achieve your short-term and long-term financial objectives. It takes into account factors such as income sources, expenses, debts, savings, investment opportunities, and risk tolerance, among others. Financial planning is a dynamic process that requires periodic reviews and adjustments based on changing circumstances, goals, and economic conditions. Seeking the guidance of a Chartered Financial Planner can be beneficial in developing and implementing an effective financial plan tailored to specific needs and objectives.
Our personal financial planners offer fee-based advice, which means the charges are clear and transparent and you will know exactly what you are paying for. We ask you to sign a Service & Fee Agreement prior to undertaking any chargeable work. This sets out the services that we are providing and the fees that we will charge for the services, as well as your selected payment method. We’ll tell you if any payments are subject to VAT. Our initial fees are payable once we’ve completed our agreed work and must be settled within 28 business days. Our fees for ongoing services will start immediately after your agreement to proceed with the advice provided in our suitability report. Our ongoing services are optional, but if you agree to purchase an ongoing service unless otherwise agreed, the ongoing service will be provided as a follow-up to the initial service.
Initial meetings allow you to have a chat with one of our financial planners to discuss any questions you may have regarding your finances. These meetings are held at our expense and can help you decide whether you wish to use our services. You can book a free consultation here: www.lift financial.com/contact-us/
The majority of our financial planners are Chartered and many of them are also Fellows of the Personal Finance Society (PFS). Having Chartered status within this industry means we are at the gold standard and our team are highly qualified. This also allows our clients to have the reassurance that they’re in expert hands. We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Our permitted business is advising on and arranging pensions, savings and investment products, non-investment insurance contracts and mortgages.
When working with a financial planner, it’s important to ask relevant questions to gain a better understanding of their expertise, approach, and how they can help you achieve your financial goals. Building a strong rapport and feeling comfortable with your financial planner is essential, so don’t hesitate to ask any additional questions that come to mind during the initial consultation or ongoing relationship.
Once we’ve put in place a financial plan, it will need to be reviewed regularly to ensure you remain on track to meet your financial goals. Our Review Service is designed to do this and includes; a regular meeting to update your circumstances, goals and objectives, updating your financial plan to ensure you remain on track to meet your goals, support with correspondence and administration throughout the year and a choice of online or face-to-face meetings. Our Review Service is not mandatory although most of our clients select this service and find value in it.
Our clients are very important to us, and we value their feedback as it helps us continue to grow and offer the best service we can as a team. We often ask our clients to leave us a review on Google, check out our page to read them all.
You/we may terminate the agreement at any time, without penalty, by either party giving three months’ notice in writing. Any transactions already initiated will be completed according to this agreement unless otherwise agreed in writing. You will be liable to pay for any services we have provided before cancellation and any outstanding fees, if applicable.
