A spotlight on Jack Sands

This post is over a year old. There may now be updates to the facts stated and the views of the author. Please read with this in mind or check for more recent articles in LIFT-Insurance.

2022 has been a great year for LIFT-Insurance; the personal and commercial arm of our business which has celebrated its 10th birthday, grown its team, and introduced a new system which allows them to help more clients than ever. Another achievement is that after all his hard work Jack Sands was recently promoted to Account Executive. We thought it would be good to catch up with him and see how he has got to his position and what it involves…

When did you join LIFT-Insurance and what previous experience did you have?

I joined LIFT in 2017 from Sixth Form where I studied business and during my time studying, I completed work experience at an insurance brokerage. Having seen how what I was studying integrated so well with what I was doing for my work experience, I knew I liked the idea of being a broker.

What made you want to get into this industry?

If I’m honest, like many young people, I left Sixth Form not exactly knowing what I wanted to do; after all, who does? What I did know is that I didn’t want my studies to be a waste and I wanted to work in an industry that coincided with what I had studied so that I could put the knowledge I had picked up to good use.

The opportunity at LIFT-Insurance came up and I love sports so the chance to work with sports professionals and high-net-worth individuals was something I really wanted to do.

Why LIFT-Insurance what do you do differently?

In relation to headcount, compared to some we aren’t the largest broker out there, but we deal with some of the most successful people in the country. What sets us apart is that given that we are a relatively small team, we pride ourselves on the level of service we offer. No client is too big or small and everyone receives the same level of service regardless.

We are niche in the sense that we are one of a small number of brokers that covers everything all under one roof, but the idea is that we well and truly look after a client for all their insurance needs whilst building an excellent rapport with them.

How has your career grown over the years and what does your new position involve?

My career has grown nicely over the five years I have spent at LIFT. Starting at the company I was an Administrator, then went on to become an Account Handler and now I am an Account/Development Executive.

I started at LIFT with little experience; however, from day one I received great training from Paul Fielding, Director of LIFT-Insurance. This has allowed me to become extremely competent at my job. To summarise my role, I still do a bit of everything with my focus now being on gaining new business.

What have been some of your favourite memories?

I have a lot of great memories in my role, but my favourite memory and the best day at work is one that has occurred within the last 12 months which would be looking after the insurance for a legend of my boyhood football club, Manchester United.

What do you see the future bringing for you and LIFT-Insurance?

I see my future at LIFT Insurance as being very successful. I have a great team around me who give me a lot of support making my job on a day-to-day basis much easier. I am young, hungry and relatively confident, so I have no issue going out there to find new business.

I have set myself personal targets of where I would like to see my account grow in the near future so it is just a case of hitting my targets and continuing to develop. I look forward to continuing to grow within my role and helping the business grow from strength to strength.
