Compliance Associate
Helping the team to deliver the company’s overall Compliance Monitoring Programme taking account of internal risk assessments, external regulatory developments and the Company’s business plan.

As Compliance Associate you will assist the Compliance Manager delivering the Company’s overall Compliance Monitoring Programme taking account of internal risk assessments, external regulatory developments and the Company’s business plan.
Your role will involve:
- Monitoring the compliance inbox and assign tasks to the relevant team member.
- Financial promotions approval.
- Conducting HMRC Sanctions checks and enhanced due diligence when required.
- Maintaining the group training plan, highlighting areas of concern to the Compliance Manager.
- Obtaining and recording the necessary documentation to satisfy Adviser fit & proper requirements, including certification, CPD and Statements of Professional Standing.
- Assisting with research on risk and compliance related developments applicable to the Company
- Conducting regular checks against physical documentation held on site.
- Assisting with the preparation, and delivery of, Adviser best practice meeting and Consumer Duty Steering Group presentations.
- Maintaining the internal Compliance Registers, ensuring they are accurate and up to date.
- Maintain and update Compliance-owned guidance, policies, procedures and training materials.
- Ensuring regulatory renewals are actioned such as our ICO registration and Chartered status.
- Completion of profit and loss calculations.
- Preparation for annual compliance audits, ensuring that any remedial actions are addressed in a timely fashion
- Assist in the preparation of reports for senior management, Board and Committees, and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.
- Participation in the Complaints Handling Process, ensuring all complaints are dealt with in accordance with the company’s Complaints Handling policies, FCA regulations and the requirements of the Professional Indemnity Insurers.
- Preparation of KPIs and feedback for the Quarterly Adviser 121 meetings.
- Completion of Consumer Duty product assessments when required.
- Provide assistance in other compliance reviews and monitoring activities in accordance with the timetable set out in the Compliance Monitoring Programme.
Essential requirements
- Proven experience in compliance role, preferably within an IFA environment.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- High standard of communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and form relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- IT literate.
- Effective planning, organisational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Team player, proactively working to support the wider compliance team.
- High degree of personal drive and motivation to develop personally and professionally.
Desirable requirements
- Working knowledge of Intelligent Office software.
- Working towards Diploma level qualification.
- Strong knowledge of FCA regulations and guidelines.
- Previous experience handling profit & loss calculations.
