Care fees planning

Care fees planning

Care home funding can be an emotive issue. Deciding to move out of the family home and the health issues that may have prompted the move make it a stressful time. Our specialist advice team have been giving support to families around care fees funding and related issues for over 14 years. Our expertise comes from Chartered Financial Planners who have been accredited as experienced 'Later Life Advisers'  by the Financial Services Skills Council (the Government body which ‘kitemarks’ this area of advice). They are also members of the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA). SOLLA is a not for profit organisation whose aim is to ensure that consumers are better informed about financial issues in later life and can gain access to an accredited adviser.

Care fees planning is one area of financial planning that is definitely not suited to 'do-it-yourself'. Issues are complex and can involve two or even more generations. Getting it wrong can be costly for the entire family.

The impact of the cost of care commonly affects two or even three generations. We're ideally placed to explain and incorporate the factors that exist in Scotland, particularly with regards to the legal system and the types and levels of benefits and allowances which can affect the advice given.
